Welcome to The UK Kit Car Club
The Committee would like to congratulate Heritage Insurance on their 60th Anniversary in 2025The aim of the club is to help and support members during the build (and inevitable ongoing maintenance and modification) as well as to plan and organise events throughout the year. The Club attends the major kit car shows throughout the year providing a stand with tea and coffee, plus a BBQ with food for members. You'll be warmly received, especially if you bring more food and drink !! We also have stands at many other shows all around the country.
It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members regularly arrange run outs and longer trips to such places as Le Mans, Wales and Scotland, plus the annual club camping weekend and the traditional “end of season” get together. Keep an eye on the events section of the forum for news and details of upcoming events.
The Club also produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members, filled with all manner of things club or motoring related, and members can get their own articles published in it as well if they wish.
The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (RHOCaR), we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as it's all about the state of mind, not the car you drive! Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often find that the discount is more than the club membership fee. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a variety of other discounts such as with Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for any other member they see is in need of help !
So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield, a Caterham, (or any of the many other types of kit car), everyone can benefit from joining, so what are you waiting for ?

Leicestershire Bbq And Run Out 16-17Th July 2016
Hi all
This will start with setting up camp on private land in the beautiful rolling Leicestershire countryside next to a fishing lake.
There will be toilets and power.
Once set up we will be doing the famous Midland Tick run out and finishing at the Plough Inn which is run by a kit car and racing enthusiast. Good food can be obtained within.
After driving back to "The Farm" you can chill out, drink beer and get ready for the BBQ and deluge of laughs that will surely follow.
Camping is allowed over night at no cost, thanks to our friendly farmer Neil.
A double helping of sun will be there throughout.
More details to follow.
The venue on google maps shows Barsby Lodge Farm . I am told this is NOT the said farm but IS the correct location.
Google mixed up farm houses.

There is room for 5 caravans and no more, but no problems with tents.

Midlands Run To Wales 12Th To 14Th August 2016
Well it's almost that time of year again and the fifth Midlands run out to Wales will once again take place on the second weekend in August, Friday 12th to Sunday 14th 2016. Anyone that's been before will know the basic format but for any potential newcomers, the destination will be near Nefyn on the Llyn Peninsula in North West Wales for some scenic driving, good natured banter and hopefully some weather like we've had her today. Accommodation is the usual camping or B&B depending on personal choice.
A Friday morning departure allows a more relaxed day out on the Saturday but as not everyone may be able to get the afternoon off, there may be the chance to join us on the Saturday instead if necessary. People travelling on Friday from the central Midlands will need to allow 4 hours driving at a sensible speed (c150 miles) with a couple of stops en-route. On arrival on the Llyn, people usually get checked into their accommodation and then meet up for a few drinks at a local pub.
The driving route Saturday was around 120 miles spread out across the day with a stop off for lunch on the way.
The route on the Saturday was roughly this but I can mix it around depending on what progress we make and conditions on the day:
Saturday Drive
Saturday evening I'm hoping to change the format a bit and I'm currently trying to source a suitable location in the area where we can get something to eat then leave the tidying up to someone else while we head off to the pub. The main reason for this is that parking is getting a bit limited at my place with the group getting bigger each year and I fancy a change of format to keep things fresh. As soon as I've got more details regarding Saturday early evening I'll post them but Ill the BBQ at my house as plan B just in case.
Sunday will be travel home day but there's plenty of options to do other things before heading back on en-route home.
I already have a number of people booked in at their accommodation so places are filling up.Last year's plan to keep the travelling group together by setting a 20 car limit wasn't that successful so this year I'll see how the car numbers go and try and sort out some clearer directions while still keeping the option of varying the route depending on time.
There should still be enough local accommodation available, if you phone to enquire about a booking, make sure you mention youre with the kit car club. If they are fully booked, they may be able to suggest alternatives if they cant take a booking themselves.
If somewhere is fully booked, can you let me know and Ill note it on the thread.
Also, if booking becomes a problem, please let me know and Ill try and look up more places. So far no one has braved the camping option but its still available and theres some great scenic pitches nearby.

For camping, as well as Graenfryn Farm, there are a couple of additional options, the first was the site suggest previously (but not actually used). This is in a great spot but access to the lower camping field may be difficult due to ground clearance issues so its probably worth asking the question if they plan on using the lower field. The owner is very helpful and can accommodate most needs. The location is just a couple of minutes drive from Nefyn literally at the bottom of my road.

Second option is a bit closer to Nefyn, no website and its fairly small site but its very popular for camping and gets good reviews:

I know a few people have already confirmed their attendance to me but I've got a shocking memory at the moment so if you're not listed below, can you please let me know where you're staying and I'll update the attendance list. As usual, if there's any questions please ask. I'm not on the forum as much as before but I'm online most days. Currently I still finishing some fairly extensive Winter mods and at the moment this looks like it could be my first run out and I particularly don't want to be leading the group in the tin top.

Exciting Event For Mayday Weekend
Guys,
Can I recommend a day out over the late May weekend?
The FIA Main Event at Santa Pod.....equivalent of F1
but much faster & noisier & cheaper (£32 Sat or Sun + £7 grandstand seat)
http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_main.php
Heres a list of cars attending.....all really top notch & lots of them!
http://www.eurodragster.com/santapod/entrylists/2016fiamainevent.htm
One tip DONT go on Monday.....that will be the finals for each class.
You are likely to see just 2 cars from each class.
Go on Saturday or Sunday for the best explosive entertainment...
everyone is trying really hard to qualify & maybe pushing their engines too hard.
A friend of mine, Steve Ashdown, has just qualified for his Top Fuel licence & is driving one of the Top fuel cars. IDIOT!!
PS take ear protection, especially for kids.
Kent Area Lives!
How about next Friday evening, 20th May at 7pm at the
Moat at the bottom of Wrotham Hill for starters?
Any takers?
June Meet H & D (11Th Of June)

Lincolnshire Meeting For May
Now Stoneleigh is over it's time to look at the rest of May.
This month we have 'Horsepower at the Hall' on Sunday 22 May 14 ( at Doddington Hall (LN6 4RU). It's 14:00 to 17:00 so we will probably meet up at the pub for lunch first. I'll post a reminder with details nearer the date.
And some of us may be going to the Moira Canal Festival (http://www.rhocar.org/index.php?showtopic=43321&hl=moira&page=1) on the same weekend. If you are going on the Saturday you can do both
Otherwise I will do my usual weather watch for the W/E 14/15 and 28/29. I fancy another picnic lunch at Rutland Water.
And an advanced date for June for your diaries. The annual Midsummer Fair at Castle Bytham (http://www.midsummerfair.co.uk/) is on Sunday 19 June. A lovely village show with all the usual things you would expect. Two years ago we pitched up with 10 cars and were made very welcome and I think everyone enjoyed it. Last year I was away so no-one went. This year I am back so let's try for a full turn out again
