  • Welcome to The UK Kit Car Club

The aim of the club is to help and support members during the build (and inevitable ongoing maintenance and modification) as well as to plan and organise events throughout the year. The Club attends the major kit car shows throughout the year providing a stand with tea and coffee, plus a BBQ with food for members. You'll be warmly received, especially if you bring more food and drink !! We also have stands at many other shows all around the country.

It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members regularly arrange run outs and longer trips to such places as Le Mans, Wales and Scotland, plus the annual club camping weekend and the traditional “end of season” get together. Keep an eye on the events section of the forum for news and details of upcoming events.

The Club also produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members, filled with all manner of things club or motoring related, and members can get their own articles published in it as well if they wish.

The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (RHOCaR), we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as it's all about the state of mind, not the car you drive! Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often find that the discount is more than the club membership fee. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a variety of other discounts such as with Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for any other member they see is in need of help !

So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield, a Caterham, (or any of the many other types of kit car), everyone can benefit from joining, so what are you waiting for ?

Goodwood breakfast club..new member in the area?

    dandan62
    By dandan62,

It seems there are a few new members who have joined over the winter in the Chichester area. A Facebook group from the South Coast kit club are planning a trip there in March 1st. This may be a good opportunity to come along and say hello. I'm hoping there will be a few Robin Hood/Gbs owners there too. Its a V8 gathering so no chance of getting onto the track but they do a good bacon butty and it would be great to meet any new local members. You need to register on the Goodwood website and reserve a ticket which is free. A passenger is also included.

    Kimbolton show July 12th

    Peter Bell
    By Peter Bell,

Kimbolton show will be 12th of July this year, I’ve been asked if the club wants a pitch again this year. Are there enough people interested? They have sent the following info:-

We’re pleased to report that the admission charges remain the same this year at a flat rate of £10 per car.

This year, we will once again be posting out wristbands to streamline entry into the show.

Wristbands will be distributed to the car club points of contact in early June to provide you with enough time to distribute these to your club, so please let me know if your club will be attending by the end of April.

This year, wristbands will again be colour coded to enable our team on the gates to direct you towards the correct parking area quickly and easily. Please make sure your drivers have their exhibitor bands upon arrival, so that our volunteers know to direct you to your club stand, rather than general exhibition parking.

Exhibitor wristbands will be sent out one per car and any additional passengers will be required to collect a wristband on the gate when you pay to enter the show. There will not be an additional cost for any additional passengers.

Please note: As per new rules implemented by the Council in 2019, ALL CARS NEED TO BE ON SITE BY 11AM AND WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE SITE UNTIL THE SHOW CLOSES AT 4PM.

Last year, we did have a number of cars trying to leave the show early… this is not permitted by order of the Council that grants us permission to run the show. Please, please, if any of your members are not able to stay until the end of the show, we ask that they park in visitor parking (which they can leave at any time). Cars on the show ground must remain static between 11am and 4pm!

Wales Trip Late May Bank Holiday Weekend

    theduck
    By theduck,

    2095980391_walesbanner.jpg.e7a9bc0116a78

I've been talking about this for a while and I know a few people had expressed interest so I figured I would throw up a post and see who is up for it.

    Basic plan is this:

Dates: Saturday 23rd May - Monday 25th May (Which is a bank holiday)

    Where: Elan Valley, Mid-Males

    The Plan:

23rd May - Meet up for Breakfast at cafe near me (WV16 area), once we and the cars are full, follow a pre-set route to Elan Valley - 80miles

24th May - Run out around mid-wales taking in various stops for lunch, refreshments , fuel etc -150miles
Planned stops include Corris Craft Centre and Tregaron Kite Centre.
Dinner out somewhere together at the end of the day.

25h May - Possibly do something on the Morning (open to suggestions) then head home - Have a different route planned back in the general direction of mine should people want to do that which is about 65miles.

My original plan was to have done a reccy run before now and tested out the routes, but with breaking the kit for spares and starting the new project, I havent had chance, but knowing the area reasonably well, I think it should be a decent route with enough fuel stops for even @Andi to make it round without too much fear of running out of petrol!

In terms of accommodation, having had a quick look around Rhayader looks ideal with plenty of options at sensible money.  This link will show you some of the options locally https://tinyurl.com/vsovo6u

Also a campsite very close by that looks reasonable for those who prefer aluminium or canvas roofs https://www.campsites.co.uk/search/campsites-in-wales/powys/rhayader/wyeside-camping-and-caravanning-club-site

So, if you are interested, drop your name below.  I'm not sure what I will be driving yet, but if it comes to it, I'll just take the Scooby again.
