Hi there,

My name is Lawrence and I'd just like to say a few words about our event.

The committee of the Fleetwood Transport Festival (known locally as "Tram Sunday") cordially invite you, your members and, if you wish your, club along with all of your vehicles to attend the 2008 event which will be held on 20th July, 2008 (3rd Sunday of July each year).

Our event, now entering its 24th year, is particularly unique as it is set in the historic town centre roads rather than on a muddy field. Fleetwood is a seaside location very close to Blackpool, Lancashire, and the event not only attracts enthusiasts but a 30,000-strong, wide variety of visitors including young families - introducing them to the joys that classic vehicles can bring. We have a HUGE number of trade stands at the event which runs from 10am until 4pm. The event currently attracts around 60 buses, 180 cars, 20-30 motorbikes and a wide variety of other specialist and exciting vehicles (last year this included a monster truck), however we would like your help with building on this figure!!

Attendance as an exhibitor or a visitor is entirely FREE. All exhibitors are presented with a commemorative plaque.

We like to think that the event is fairly club friendly due to the fact that it involves the whole family, we have ample space, there are plenty of shops and cafés and the fact that we are used to accommodating clubs together. As usual our get together for April will be at The Compass Inn, Tormarton, on Sunday 13th from around 7:30pm onwards. All are welcome.

Additionally, a small group of us are going to the Le Mans Classic event in July and due to one of the party having to drop out we have a place available with ferry, camping and race tickets already booked. If anyone is interested in filling this spot then please pm me for further details.

Hi all

I have just received the final info for Detling.

Indoor display for some cars in the "JOHN HENDRY HALL" (old hall) Stand 011 & 012 and space out side for 50ish cars.

Cookie says the out door display will be signed with our name.

Camping is allowed on the stand for those brave enough, daft enough !!!! to do so.

Show ground is off M20 J7 or M2 J5 Show ground entrance is on the A249.

Info goes on to say "do not use the rear entrance it will be locked

So get your cars polished and some one book the weather and have a great time, sadly we wont be there but we will see you all at Stoneleigh.

It's not ofter I write anything odd in the news, but the Phorm ideas and system has me very concerned about my privacy, and I believe should NOT be used. Some details for you :- (Taken from http://www.badphorm.co.uk)

• Who is Phorm anyway?
  Phorm is an internet marketing company. They make money by selling advertising on web pages to various companies through their brokerage which they call the Open Internet Exchange (OIX). You can find out more about Phorm and the OIX from their website (http://www.phorm.com) but beware of the marketing-speak!
  
  
• What's so different about that, google has been doing it for years!
  Google's advertising relies solely on Google's own database to 'target' it's adverts. It does this based on the content of the page you're viewing, and doesn't use any kind of browsing history unless you specifically opt-in (by creating a Google account). Phorm on the other hand targets it's advertising based solely on your browsing history, which it collects direct from your ISP. You can opt-out of Phorm's tracking by allowing a cookie to be set on your PC.
  
  
• So you're saying I'm automatically opted in?
  Yes. If your ISP is Virgin Media, BT or Talk Talk, your browsing details WILL be sent to Phorm by default, you will require to disable the Phorm system by opting out on every browser that uses your network connection. There is no way to 'globaly opt out' of the Phorm system.
  
  
• So what do they actually see?
  Phorm doesn't just see the URL of every page you visit, they see the entire content of every single web page (with the exception of encrypted pages). That means they can read your mail if you use most types of webmail, view all the posts you make or read on web forums, obtain the content of most webforms you complete, in fact just about anything you do on the web that is not encrypted can be hoovered up by Phorm. Phorm claim they do not store this information for more than 14 days.
  
  
• What do they store?
  According to their website, Phorm store an aggregate history of your browsing, not a detailed history of each page you visit. Even so, such a history would reveal considerable detail about your browsing and potentially about your personal life.
  
  
• Can this history be tied to my identity?
  Phorm claim they do not store any personally identifiable information (including IP addresses) or interface with any ISP systems that would allow them to identify you, however they assign each user a unique 'tracking ID' which relates directly to their browsing profile. If someone connected the ID to any piece of personally identifying information your browsing history would no longer be anonymous.
  
  
• I heard Phorm was associated with a rootkit, is that true?
  Phorm is not, however their predecessor company (121 Media) was. This has been confirmed by Phorm's current CEO, who was also involved with 121 Media.
  
  
• Someone said Phorm was linked to Russia, is it true?
  Yes, there is a clear link between Phorm and Russia. Phorm employ Russian programmers ("The development team for the new software was recruited from Moscow's elite Lebedev Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering, a vital part of of the Cold War spying effort and still a centre for developing Russia's 'national security' computer systems." - Mail on Sunday article) and have been indirectly linked to the Russian security services by a Mail on Sunday article (full article is here)
  

So if you have ever had spyware stuck on your PC that has cost you time, money and agro to sort, then these are the guys that the ISPS are handing over every bit of data (almost) that you look at on the web. To put it another way, it's like the Royal Mail opening all your letters so they can send better targeted junk mail to you!

The Thames Valley area will be joining the Surrey Street Rodders for their annual Wheels Day event on Good Friday at the Rushmoor Arena near Aldershot.

We will be meeting at the Ely pub The Ely on the A30 between Blackwater and Blackbushe at 9am, to leave at 9.30am in a convoy as it is important to arrive en masse at the arena, to park together.

Non show cars must use public car parks entrance fee is £5 per person children and OAP are free.

Around 2000+ vehicles on show of every type you could wish to see, ranging from Street Rods, Custom Cars, Yanks, Kit cars, Bikes, Vans, British Classics, Historic Vehicles and Dragsters.

There will be refreshments available, a fun fair for the children, trade stands, craft stalls and music all day.

All anyone fancy a day out at a Rolling road centre, Gavin mailed me with the sugestion, the centre is Thurston Engineeringin Ongar Essex, the cost would be £35 per car about 12 cars needed,

Hi All,

as some of you are aware, i help organise a trip to Wales every year, and usually its full, but due to a last min cancellation there is room for two people.

the dates are March 28th - 30th, staying in a hostel in dorms of 6-8 peeps, theres for either a couple or two males, coming in a hood would be preferred as spare seats are already taken in other cars. (two individuals in seperate cars could come too)

This will have to be first come first served im afraid as theres only two places available.

cost is 50 quid per person, which includes all meals, (lasagne and salad friday night, and coq o van on the sat eve, breakfast both sat and sun mornings and packed lunches too, which im sure you will agree is excellent value.

the venue is in LLanberis Wales and is a large victorian detached house which has been converted into a outward bound center.
