Welcome to The UK Kit Car Club
The aim of the club is to help and support members during the build (and inevitable ongoing maintenance and modification) as well as to plan and organise events throughout the year. The Club attends the major kit car shows throughout the year providing a stand with tea and coffee, plus a BBQ with food for members. You'll be warmly received, especially if you bring more food and drink !! We also have stands at many other shows all around the country.
It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members regularly arrange run outs and longer trips to such places as Le Mans, Wales and Scotland, plus the annual club camping weekend and the traditional “end of season” get together. Keep an eye on the events section of the forum for news and details of upcoming events.
The Club also produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members, filled with all manner of things club or motoring related, and members can get their own articles published in it as well if they wish.
The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (RHOCaR), we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as it's all about the state of mind, not the car you drive! Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often find that the discount is more than the club membership fee. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a variety of other discounts such as with Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for any other member they see is in need of help !
So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield, a Caterham, (or any of the many other types of kit car), everyone can benefit from joining, so what are you waiting for ?

Unauthorised Paypal payments
I've recently had a couple of people complain about their subscription payments being taken from their Paypal accounts when they did not intend to renew their membership, blaming the Club. As such, I thought it was time to explain the procedure.
If a member signs up to a PayPal recurring payment, it is treated more like a Standing Order than a Direct Debit, i.e. it is treated as something that happens by default, it is not specifically requested by the Club. So unless it is cancelled by the member it will happen. To try and avoid the problem outlined above, the payment system will automatically notify the member a few days before the renewal date that the payment will be taken. If you do not wish to renew then you need to go into your Paypal account and cancel the recurring payment. It is not something we can access.
If you ignore the reminder, or just email the Club to ask them to cancel it (we can't), then don't be surprised when the payment is made.
Hope this makes sense.

Kit Car Shows 2023
East of England Meets for November
We're still going to continue to hold meets over the winter; there's nothing better than wrapping up well and taking the car for a drive on a crisp, clear winter's day (and for those of us without a heater, turning the engine fan on to keep the lower half warm )
However, I've decided that is probably getting too cold for our usual al-fresco picnics so the next few meetinga will be at cafes in various places.
So the first November one will be at 12:00 on Thursday 10th at the Bay Tree Garden Centre at Spalding (PE12 6JU), http://www.baytree-gardencentre.com/.
See you there

Change of Address
We have had a couple of cases recently of the magazine going to the wrong address. If you do move house then updating your address in your profile is a good idea, but unfortunately it doesn't send a notification to the Membership Secretary so won't get picked up.
So if you do move house please let me know either by messaging me at membership@rhocar.org or by using the "Contact Us" link on the Website.
Thanks
Al (Membership Secretary)
Membership Map resurrected
Some of you will have noted that the Member Map recently disappeared. It appears that a recent software update broke it (Those of you with iPhones will be used to this ). It is now back, although it is now called Community Map. As before it can be accessed from the blue bar on the main screen. There is a minor problem in that the + Create > Community Map Marker (top right of the main screen) is not working. But if you actually go the map there is an option to add your location and that seems to work. I am discussing the problem with the author so hopefully I can get it fixed.
Of the 380 current members we have only 130 markers and many of those members have lapsed (I will be deleting them over the next few weeks). So I encourage you to add your location. Apart from helping the Area Secretaries to find out who is in their area you might find people near you who can help with any problems.

West Mids Monthly Meet 26th October 2022
Still on the last Wednesday of the month (next Wednesday), 6pm onwards, Malt Shovel Pub, Coventry Road, Nr Stonebridge, Coventry, CV7 7HL.
I'll aim to be there just after 6pm, generally they're trying to kick us out just after 9pm so if you're coming, don't leave it too late. Also, if you want to eat, book beforehand as they don't normally let people just rock up and eat.
Entrance to the pub car park is off the A452 Chester Road heading North 50 yards from the island.
Everyone welcome. See you there.
