  • Welcome to The UK Kit Car Club

The aim of the club is to help and support members during the build (and inevitable ongoing maintenance and modification) as well as to plan and organise events throughout the year. The Club attends the major kit car shows throughout the year providing a stand with tea and coffee, plus a BBQ with food for members. You'll be warmly received, especially if you bring more food and drink !! We also have stands at many other shows all around the country.

It's not just shows though, our active area secretaries and members regularly arrange run outs and longer trips to such places as Le Mans, Wales and Scotland, plus the annual club camping weekend and the traditional “end of season” get together. Keep an eye on the events section of the forum for news and details of upcoming events.

The Club also produces four magazines a year, exclusively for club members, filled with all manner of things club or motoring related, and members can get their own articles published in it as well if they wish.

The Club is an independent organisation, and although we have our roots as the Robin Hood Owners Club and Register (RHOCaR), we are very much a club for all makes and model of kit car, so anyone can be a "Hoody", as it's all about the state of mind, not the car you drive! Being a member of The UK Kit Car Club has many benefits above those already mentioned. Members benefit from discounted insurance with nearly all of the specialist kit car insurers, and often find that the discount is more than the club membership fee. Membership also gets you full access to the forum, and a variety of other discounts such as with Euro Car Parts. You'll also find other members are willing to go well above and beyond for any other member they see is in need of help !

So whether you own a Robin Hood, a GBS Zero, a Locost, an MK, a Westfield, a Caterham, (or any of the many other types of kit car), everyone can benefit from joining, so what are you waiting for ?

    Scottish Run Out 21/07/13

    Guest whiz
    By Guest whiz,

Just thought I would share our experience today on our run out. Those who attended where Obecanobe (John), Ickle ( Stuart) and myself.

The day started at 9am at our local McDonalds in Dunfermline where we had breakfast and ultimately decide our destination and route for the days run. The weather was not great in the east, it was cloudy and cold. The west was the better option. So it was decided that’s where we were heading.

We left cold Dunfermline heading west towards Stirling it wasn’t getting any warmer. Our goal was Aberfoyle at the foot of the infamous Dukes Pass 14 miles of exhilarating tarmac, which throws everything you could ask for in cars like ours. As you head up the Pass, up steep hairpin bends you could think you where in the Alps. As we crested over the top the sun met us. It stayed with us the rest of the day.

The Dukes is a very popular road for thrill seekers in cars it is made up of tight hairpins, fast bends; slow blind bends fast straights, blind summits and some really good yumps. I’ve seen us head over one way then about turn and go back the other way. But not today we were making good time so we headed North west towards Killen with a little detour along the way to St Fillans (we actually went the wrong turning but we enjoyed the road we went further along then turned back towards the direction we should of went.

We stopped at Killen for coffee and cake. After our refreshments we headed East along the shore of Loch Tay. It was here that I was told of a single track road that went over the top of Ben Lawers which is a Munro (mountain over 3000 feet), we located the road after we sped past it at a great rate of knots. The sign was hidden by vegetation. That’s my excuse anyway.

We headed up the track towards the summit, dodging sheep at the side of the road. The views from up there were amazing it was here we came across a dam and thought what a perfect place for some pictures. Until bloody tourists spoiled it they just abandoned their car in the middle of it.

From here we headed down the side of the mountain towards Aberfeldy by this time we where starting to run on fumes. Luckily I had a jerry can with me, which got me through Glen Lyon to our refueling stop in Aberfeldy. With the sun shining bright on the hillside and the top of my skull. I can honestly say that I have never driven through such beautiful countryside ever before. It was breathtaking.

After Aberfeldy we turned south towards home through the Small Glen to Crieff, past Gleneagles and onto more familiar roads, which we travel regularly where we know you can take the chance when it arises to overtake.

We finally arrived home at 4pm safe and sound and grinning from ear to ear knowing that today had to have been one of the best runs we have ever had together.

Run Out? Derbyshire Area? Nothing Concrete.....

    Guest RoborRoss
    By Guest RoborRoss,

Anyone in the Matlock / Ripley / Derbyshire / Yorkshire (widening the net you notice!) fancy a bit of a run out on Sunday AM (21st July)? Could meet up somewhere obvious, like Matlock Train Station and then on to Via Gellia (Cromford) for breakfast? There are plenty of nice routes from Via Gellia; Buxton, Ashbourne, Bakewell and so on..... Finish up down at Matlock Bath for a pint of shandy and make lots of noise on the way through? Rob (CMA), I know your car is still in rebuild phase, so your welcome as a passenger in mine...
